Yamaha YZF R15 the typical Sports bike for India

The January Auto Expo 2008 shocked public when Yamaha unveiled their R15. This is the most talk of the nation bike of the year. Since the bike is built based on the race technology behind Yamaha’s famous R1 series it’s usually a concise ripped version of the R1 bike, some of its characteristics have been splendidly reproduced in the YZF-R15. This world class design is enhanced by Yamaha for Indian Markets which is developed by intelligent research and care. So the strategy begins to beat the Indian Automobile Competition by now.
Its time to for Indians to showcase their bike talents, to burn your roads you don’t need to be a millionaire until you own a Yamaha YZF R15. At the moment I thought Bajaj was acting as a monopoly on ruling two wheeler competitions by Pulsar but not anymore… Yamaha YZF is not a Family bike which u can ride with your wife, son, daughter, etc but it is a Racer bike. Yamaha R15 has its own style and royalty among Teens its usually a macho bike for serious racers and a college bike for students. In short this is what all the hungry youths of India have been waiting for. So probably you wait is answered when Yamaha YZF R15 is available in affordable price.
What makes R15 special?
Liquid cooling for engines for providing stable performance, reduce vibrations, and offer a high quality ride. DiASil Cylinder delivers better heat dissipation and less weight. Fuel Injection in Yamaha R15 has two components. One is the sensors that gather information on the engine’s operation, and other is the fuel supply system that supplies gasoline. Deltabox Frame forms the basis for riding comfort and handling performance, this is usually seen in Yamaha R1 bikes.

Yamaha represents this bike’s design as R design showing a strong bodyline and macho look for the bike. As for now officially there’s no announcement about the price but rumor’s and insider information hopes us that the price might be less than 90,000/- rupees in India.
This bike is available in two glamorous colors Blue and Graphite. Other Specifications of the bike can been seen in their official site.
What’s your suggestion and expectation about the bike and its price?

Yamaha has finally come out with some thing intresting and something unique to think upon. It has finnaly launched its Mos awaited bike Yamaha R15. I have seen Yamaha R15 Images and trust me look wise it is awesome. Many blogs and Forums are also giving Yamaha R15 specification and also they are listed on their special sites. have gone through R15 Specification and wht i found is it is most disapointing to see tht this bike is priced such a high. The Cost of this Bike is 1,10,000 which is too high depending upon the CC and the BHP tht the Bike Provides, although the Bike provides the world best part for maintaining its Racing Gear it cant cross 40,000 more then the normal 150cc bikes

wel…
i personally inspected the r15…no doubt its a wel advanced bike…but, the faring looked lik some kinda cheap plastic…i was expecting it to b priced around 75k to 80k….and BOOM!! its around 1.2 lakhs(on road)!!!
now,its time for a detailed analysis,seriously…
wt does these yamaha ppl think of us(Indians)?
do we look lik some kinda illittrates who still live in the 1980s?
first, lets talk abt the design…many think tat its sexy…cool…n stuff…but,if u guys hav time , try to check out yamaha’s new 2008 R125 model(international)in google , which is an 125cc machine ,around 14 bhp..now, tats the exact little brother of the R series..look at its design..so, my point is tat,wen the yamaha ppl r capable of designing an 125 cc machine so wel, why cant they design an 150 cc machine tat way for us(Indians)..why is this difference wen compared to the international market? or do they think tat we , Indians are not capable of handelling hi-tech styling? no,seriously, i fail to understand , why is this discrimination?
second, lets come to the bhp…we actually thought tat the bike wud b around 20 to 22 bhp…but, we’ve got ourselves a 17 bhp machine…most other 150 cc bikes produce around 14 to 15.5 bhp…this R15 is jus around 2 bhp more..and for this they hav created a huge storm among the bikers..something lik “with the launch of this bike we are going to regain the lost brand name”
for obvious reasons we wud b expectiong a good performance bike but, oops…its yet another 17 bhp machine…and ofcourse comes with a huge price..
third, lets talk abt the price…answer me honestly guys..ru willing to pay Rs.1,11,000/- for a bike which has a full faring(looks lik very cheap, plastic, wen seen in person),17 bhp(around 2 bhp more from other 150cc bikes),liquid cooled(hav already used in P200),back disc brake(already used in P220),digital speedo(already used in many bikes),thin tyres and the tail part of the bike looks very much lik a normal commuter bike..?
A few words abt myself,
im not an anti-yamaha guy n all….matter of fact im a yamaha fan..forever…after all they gave us the RD 350..which had 30 bhp..and 30 bhp from a 2 stroke bike..now tats wt i call POWER!!! RAW POWER!!!
tat was around 25 years back..and now we r getting an 17 bhp bike from them and calling it a true performance bike…i can only laugh at this…i can still bring my 25 yrs old beast(RD 350) and can smoke any motorcycle , produced in India, including R15(im not here comparing RD with R15)..my point is tat, wen yamaha charges tat much for the bike, why not make it a better performance bike and a true power bikes wud never look for kpl.so,yamaha can forget abt the fuel economy n concentrate on the bhp n styling alone..
PROUD TO OWN AN RD 350 (HT) AND A YAMAHA FAN FOREVER!!!

Dear Fellows Indian Designed R15 is a great one but there are drawbacks its an electric start bike and no option for a kick start by chance your battery runs out or a short circuit your bike fails to start and your are in the middle of the road..

Yes… Iagree fully with Mr. Max. Moreover, The price(1,10,000.00) is too high for a 150 cc, 17 bhp bike… It should not exceed above 80k…

One thing more i want to add is for the persons who think that it is not a family bike. I am 34 yrs old and i have never driven a bike in my life. The first thing was that i was very much fascinated by the looks of the bike. and secondly,i did not want to become the very first pride owner of a product. so, i waited for 2 months after its launch. and in the meantime i kept on taking reviews from the persons who bought the product. They were all very much satisfied with the productand one thing more i want to add is that who the bullshit thinks that the bike is only for boys? I bought it and daily i pass through damn busy roads to reach my destination place. i feel no problem in driving it. Only one thing i would like to suggest to the persons who have not bought it that drive it and you will love it.

idiot max!!
they have finely blended power with economy!
u know tht fuels costs in india
it’s rs 60/l in maharashtra
how do u expect ppl to buy a bike tht has an average of less th 20
and i being a mechanical engineer myself beleive me when i say this the work done on the bike ia amazing
so are u ready to compare any other 150 cc bike’s performance with this one, including economy???

yamaha R15 is totally a waste of money.its only luk better from front but from the back yakkkk.
look at the tyres guys it seem to be polio.
hahahahaha
yamaha R15 cant attract much people in india specilly for the racers.we need more power.
the price(1,10,000.00) is too high for a 150 cc, 17 bhp bike… It should not exceed above 80000…
so yamaha u better develop high performance byk
as in yamaha r1.

I agree that the bike looks very much sporty… However, the price is too much taking into consideration its 15O CC engine. Plusar and Unicorn are also 150 CC bikes eventhough it doesn’t look like R15. Guys,,,, what about the mileage of the R15? Does anyone have any clue about it?

First of all, I need to admit myself that I’m a big fan of Yamaha motorbikes. I don’t even remember when it occurred to me but suddenly I decided that I will ride only Yamaha bikes. I do have a Yamaha Rx135. I don’t drive it much now-a-days but I made it a point that I won’t drive any other bikes either. If you are bike enthusiast, the most talked about bike (of course just among the lean biking community in India) is Yamaha YZF-R15.

Indeed Yamaha has launched its best bike in the market after so long Yamaha YZF R15 is indeed a kind of sport bike for the indian market and indian roads. But the looking at the price 1,10,000.00 its too high. Man Look at the tyres from behind, Come on they need to be a bit broad one, make the chages and then indeed its a bike we have been looking out for. All the best Yamaha.

R15 is a bike with astounding technology advances, which 220 can just dream of - in current stage. Its liquid cooled, amazing prowess - to touch 140 kmph in speedo [actual 132-133] with just a 149.8 cc engine is nothing less than a marvel- This is technology. Yamaha engineers have achieved more tha what a bike with a 70more CC cant make.
This itself proves the advantage of R15. I have driven R1; R15 is its smaller [one more er] brother! The looks, fairings, even the footrests are of the same make! apart from looks, the bike give value for money for each rupee spend. The tyres is a let-down as per many, but its the best in class again, which the Yamaha engineers worked out with MRF to develpe the best one with grip and traction.
After its our likeliness - If we just need economy and is okay with smaller techie bikes, just have a 220 or ZMA; if we love technology and the spirits of a true performance bike, go for R15
